Pronounced ray-key, it means ‘universal life energy’ in Japanese. Mikao Usui was the originator of what we today call Reiki. He was born on August 15th 1865 in the village of ‘Taniai-mura’ in the Yamagata district of Gifu prefecture Kyoto. Reiki therapy is given by placing hands on, or slightly above parts of the body that correspond to the major energy centres (chakras), crown, brow, throat, heart, solar plexus, navel and root. There is no massaging involved and the recipient remains fully clothed, lying down on a couch or seated on a straight-backed chair.
Reiki practitioners believe that everyone has the potential to gain access to the universal
life energy, but that over time most people’s systems become blocked and the energy
becomes weakened in them. Reiki does not require belief or faith, just a desire
to receive the energy.
Reiki can also be given, with great effect, to animals and plants.
Reiki helps to clear the system and bring the body back to balance, leaving you relaxed and renewed.
A session lasts 45 minutes and cost £30
